Finding the Perfect Wedding Reception Venue

When couples are choosing the best place to hold their wedding reception, there are some things that need to be taken into consideration. Have a look at the following to make choosing your location as simple as possible:

Mileage: Your wedding guests don’t need to have to drive a long way from the wedding venue to the reception location. Some of them just won’t do it. That’s why it’s important to keep your reception not longer than 30 minutes from the ceremony location. If it’s impossible to have the reception close to the wedding venue, organize a caravan with the bride and groom leading the way to the reception.

Time Frame: Have your reception within an hour or less following the ceremony. Otherwise, you’ll find that people will become bored and leave. They aren’t going to want to wait around for 3 hours while you get pictures taken. So timing is important.

Location Size: People that have been crammed into a crowded church for an hour or more will be ready to spread out a little and enjoy themselves. Be sure that your reception hall has a lot of room for everyone. While you may be told that a location holds 200 people, it doesn’t mean it holds that many comfortably. Visit the location before you book it.

Temperature Control: Make sure that your reception venue has everything needed to keep the temperature comfortable for guests. That means it needs proper air conditioning for summer and the right heating for winter. Also, find out who holds the control for that temperature.
Smoking: This is kind of tricky these days since so many places don’t allow smoking. If you’ve got smokers on your guest list, you’ll need to make some provisions for them so that you don’t have them going out for 15 to 20 minutes on an hourly basis.

While these are just the things that you’ll need to think about when arranging your reception, there will most likely be other considerations that the facility coordinators will mention when you interview them. They may also be able to help you with certain things on the list above. A good reception venue will have trained professionals to help you with any questions you may have.
